Hydration is the source of life

It's not news to read that it's important to hydrate daily in sufficient quantities for the body.

Hydration is important because it's essential to our vital functions, and represents around 65% of an adult's body weight. Our bodies eliminate enormous quantities of water every day through perspiration, urine, excretions and breathing.

In summer, with the high temperatures we experience, these eliminations are even greater.

High temperatures = high hydration levels

High temperatures encourage people to hydrate more. The urge to drink returns more regularly than usual. The first people to be affected by the dangers of dehydration are the elderly.

According to the CNRS, "the overall quantity of water required by an average-sized adult, living in a temperate region and not making any particular physical effort, is around 2.5 liters per day".

Sportsmen and women are advised to drink more. In fact, with regular sporting activity, perspiration is more abundant and the need to hydrate more intense.

Hydration is a good thing, but it should be measured, not excessive. Several studies show that taking in too much water can have adverse effects on health, such as insomnia, headaches and kidney damage. In short, it's important to be able to drink enough water while remaining reasonable.

Drinking more tap water, an asset against plastic pollution

For some people, there are still many barriers to drinking tap water. Tap water is often regarded as tasteless, unclean, unhealthy and full of bacteria. However, it's important to know that water is safe to drink.

To find out more, visit https://sante.gouv.fr/sante-et-environnement/eaux/eau to check the quality of tap water in your area. In addition, there is a way to reduce the risk of drinking tap water: you can use activated carbons to filter the water, sold on the Les Artistes Paris website.

You'll find all the information you need in the article published earlier on our blog: https://www.lesartistesparis.com/fr/blog/recycler-son-filtre-a-charbon--n14

Did you know? Numerous fountains are available to fill your water bottle in Paris and throughout France. You can consult Castalie's interactive map which references all public water fountains throughout France: click HERE

We applaud the initiative of No Plastic In My Sea to collect signatures on a petition aimed at the SNCF, the RATP and the managers of stations, shopping centers, service stations, congress halls, sports or cultural establishments, to get them to respect the law on the installation of drinking water points.

We have signed this petition and invite you to do so too.

Already 14,464 signatures out of 15,000, it's up to you!

Are you convinced?
